A Metro Vancouver man is angry with Facebook’s response after discovering a fake profile impersonating his wife.

The profile was listed under the name Shamika Grant and used a photo of Eric Jagielski’s wife, Mesha.  He says the photo was stolen from her account.

Jagielski says he complained several times to Facebook, but was told the social media giant couldn't confirm that Shamika Grant was pretending to be his wife.

Frustrated, he contacted CTV News and we got a hold of Facebook on his behalf.

Company officials admit that in this case, they made a mistake by not disabling the account. Once Steele on Your Side intervened, the company immediately took down the fake profile. Facebook says its reviewers are human, so things slip through the cracks from time to time.

If you think someone is pretending to be you on Facebook you should report the profile online.

If you want more information about the suspicious account you'll need to include a scanned copy of your government I.D., a notarized statement verifying your identity and a copy of a police report about your claim.
