Mounties are trying to track down a suspect who was behind the wheel of a stolen pickup truck involved in a multi-vehicle crash early Sunday morning.

Police say the black 2005 Ford F350 was driving northbound in the 9800-block of 120th Avenue at around 12:15 a.m. when it lost control trying to pass a Nissan Altima.

The truck struck the car and travelled over the median into oncoming southbound traffic, hitting a Toyota Tacoma and Dodge Caravan.

The male driver then reportedly ran away from the vehicle, which was determined to have been reported stolen several hours before, according to police.

A search for the suspect using police dogs and an RCMP helicopter turned up nothing.

The occupants of each of the vehicles that were struck received only minor injuries and were not taken to hospital, police said.

Speed appears to be a factor in the crash.

Surrey RCMP are asking anyone who saw the collision or the male driver of the Ford F350 to call them at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
