A CTV News videographer has received a special award for taking a stance against racism.

Peter Bremner has given the “Citizen of the Year Award” Thursday night at the Diwali Gala Dinner in Surrey.

In August, Bremner went out of his way to remove racist graffiti from a bus stop, which someone had defaced with the words “kill Muslims.”

The videographer got out of his truck and wiped the words away.

Video of the kind act went viral, with more than 2 million views on Facebook.
