North Vancouver RCMP will hold a parade Saturday honouring North Shore Rescue leader and paramedic Tim Jones.

Jones passed away suddenly during an avalanche training session on Mount Seymour Jan.19.

CTV will stream the procession and memorial live on its website Saturday morning.

“His tireless energy over the years translated into protocols, best practices, fund-raising, high-caliber equipment and a state of the art operations base that opened last year,” Supt. Chris Kennedy of North Vancouver RCMP said in a release. “Speaking on behalf of hundreds of current and past serving police officers, I want to stress how much we appreciated Tim’s contributions on scene, during the countless times we partnered with him to help those in need.”

The parade will take place at 10:30 a.m. at 15th Street and Forbes Avenue. It will proceed east along 15th Street to Lonsdale Avenue then will turn north and go up to Lonsdale Avenue and 23rd Street. The Tim Jones Memorial Event will follow the parade at noon in the Centennial Theatre field and parking lot in North Vancouver.

RCMP are advising that there will be limited parking, temporary road closures and traffic delays. All traffic heading south on Lonsdale Avenue at 23rd Street will be re-directed west on 23rd Street for the duration of the parade route.

A memorial fund in Jones’ name benefitting North Shore Rescue has already raised over $27,000 and an endowment fund for students pursuing advanced care paramedicine and search and rescue has also been set up.
