Update: Search and rescue crews have located two hikers who got lost on the North Shore Tuesday afternoon.

Previous story: Rescue crews are scouring Mount Seymour for two hikers, including a visitor from Germany, who got lost Tuesday afternoon.

North Shore Rescue said a Coquitlam man and German woman, believed to be in their late-30s or early-40s, lost their way after heading out unprepared in the Dog Mountain area.

Crews received a call about the couple around 4 p.m., but the early sunset started hindering efforts to find them shortly after.

North Shore Rescue said members can’t launch a helicopter either because of weather conditions.

The lost hikers are believed to be under-dressed for the conditions, and rescuers are very concerned about the possibility they could suffer hypothermia.

Crews said they’re trying to use the woman's cell phone to pinpoint their location, but have had trouble because the device is from overseas.
