In the second part of CTV News’ series on ICBC’s most-failed learner’s driving test questions, we focus on the rules surrounding buses and emergency vehicles. Think you have what it takes?

Young Drivers of Canada warns that even motorists who aced their learner’s test the first time around aren’t guaranteed to pass again, as rules and regulations get updated over time.

“If you’re not constantly updating what you’re learning and you’re not constantly plugged in to the changes, you’ll miss that,” said regional director Kelly Calar Norman.

Drivers also fail because they don’t read the questions closely enough or have fallen into bad driving habits, according to ICBC.

CTV British Columbia’s St. John Alexander teamed up with Young Drivers and ICBC to assemble the multiple choice questions people most often get wrong.

Try your hand at the second set of questions below and check your answers at the bottom. You can read the first set here.

1) When approaching a stopped emergency vehicle with flashing lights on highways with speed limits of 80 km/h or over, in addition to changing lanes you must slow to:

     A) 50 km/h
     B) 40 km/h
     C) 30 km/h
     D) 70 km/h

2) You are driving in the left lane of a divided highway. You see an emergency vehicle with flashing lights in your rear view mirror. You should:

     A) Slow down and move to either side of the road
     B) Stop immediately
     C) Move safely to the nearest edge of the road and stop
     D) Be ready to get out of the way

3 The yield sign on a transit bus when it is signaling to enter traffic means:

     A) You must yield to them where the speed limit is 60 km/h or lower
     B) Yield on all roads where the speed limit is 30 km/h or lower
     C) Yield regardless of the posted speed limit
     D) Yield only if there is no traffic behind you

Drivers can be forced to take a re-examination for several reasons, including having an expired or suspended license for more than three years or suffering a medical condition that could impact their ability to operate a vehicle.

You need 80 per cent on the test to get your learner’s permit.

For the most-failed questions on pedestrians and cyclists, watch Part 3 of St. John Alexander’s Take the Road Test series on Wednesday.

Question 1: D. Reducing speed too drastically could create a hazard for other cars.
Question 2: C. You should make sure it’s safe before coming to a stop at the nearest edge.
Question 3: A. In order to avoid collision, don’t yield at high speeds.
