Conservation officers in Langley are on the hunt for a cougar after a cow was killed over the weekend.

Two Dairy farmers posted photos online showing a cow gruesomely torn apart on Sunday morning.

Officers have since confirmed they believe a cougar was responsible for the damage.

Several traps have been set up in the area.

In May, a cougar was shot and killed in West Vancouver after approaching someone walking their dogs.

In Port Moody, a trio of cougars - believed to be a mother and two cubs - was caught on surveillance footage at Mossom Creek Salmon Hatchery while another was spotted near an elementary school on Heritage Mountain.

Anyone who sees a cougar in an urban area is urged to call the British Columbia Conservation Foundation at 1-877-952-7277.
