44th Chinatown Spring Festival Parade
Sunday, January 29th
Vancouver Chinatown

The Lunar New Year is a special event for many in the Chinese community and is considered by many to be the most important festival in the Chinese culture. Many other Asian and non-Chinese also celebrate the Lunar New Year as well, making celebrations for this festival more diverse. The Vancouver Chinatown Spring Festival & Parade has been a favourite place for people of all ages and cultures to gather and celebrate. This signature event of Vancouver’s Chinatown will feature lion dances, cultural dance troupes, marching bands, martial arts performances and much more. The Chinese New Year Parade celebrates the new year of the Chinese lunar calendar and is a funfilled event for everyone to enjoy. In 2016, over 100,000 spectators gathered in Vancouver’s Chinatown to watch performances from a variety of ethnic and community groups. At the parade there are over 4,000 participants representing the diversity we have in Vancouver, giving them the opportunity to connect and build relationships with the local community. There were many highlights in the parade this year including tanks, police cars, firetrucks, and there was even a helicopter! The evening Spring Banquet was an equally exciting event as we hosted over 1,000 guests connecting, solidifying and building new relationships throughout the evening. This year, we will be celebrating the 44th Spring Festival & Parade in Vancouver’s Chinatown. Building on each year’s success, we anticipate an even larger audience and it is with fanfare that we will celebrate this occasion on Sunday, January 29, 2017. The evening will conclude with the celebration banquet at the Floata Seafood Restaurant in Chinatown.
