3rd Annual Labour Day Chinook Classic Catch and Release Fishing Derby
Saturday, August 30
With over $50,000 in cash and prizes the Labour Day Chinook Classic out of Mosquito Creek Marina in North Vancouver is the hottest catch and release fishing derby on the West Coast. Grand Prize of $25,000 for the largest chinook, second prize $10,000, and third prize $3,000 this derby encourages the serious fisher, the weekender fisher, and anyone who just wants to have fun on the water while supporting a great charity. The Labour Day Chinook Classic is a not-for-profit event created to aid the Pacific Salmon Foundation in their efforts to spearhead salmon conservation.

On August 30 and 31, 2014, Nikkei Place hosts the second annual Nikkei Matsuri, Burnaby’s family-friendly Japanese festival in the heart of Metro Vancouver. BC Women’s Hospital Newborn ICU Campaign - "Hope Starts Here"
BC Women’s Hospital is launching a $17million fundraising campaign for their Newborn Intensive Care Unit, to purchase vital equipment and technology. CTV Vancouver is proud to be involved in this important campaign and support BC Women’s as they care for the tiniest and most fragile babies in the province.
Each year, as many as 1,400 critically ill newborns are admitted to BC Women’s Newborn ICU. The doctors and nurses in the NICU rely on innovative equipment and state-of-the-art technology to deliver life-saving care for their tiny patients.

Workout to Conquer Cancer
Congratulations to everyone who turned out to accelerate cancer research at the BC Cancer Foundation’s Workout to Conquer Cancer event on March 8th. The day-long fitness challenge at the Richmond Olympic Oval raised $379,000 to support B.C. based, world-leading research at the BC Cancer Agency.
