Celebrity spiritual guru Deepak Chopra has brought his brand name yoga to Canada, opening his first ever studio in downtown Vancouver.

Now for more than a $1,000 a year, Vancouverites can sign up for the "mind-body medicine" icon's program, indulging in an infrared sauna, hot yoga, massage and juice bar at the new studio at Granville and West Hastings streets.

Chopra Yoga Centre manager Sharam Rafati said Chopra's program is a perfect fit for yoga-crazed Vancouver and business is already booming.

"Our intention was to bring a little bit of spirituality into the practice and that's what we thought was missing in the Vancouver market," said Rafati.

Director Danielle Mika Nagel said Vancouver's massive yoga market is only growing.

"We felt that this market was not over-saturated," said Nagel.

Known as the third worst-dressed city in the world thanks to Vancouver's spandex pant obsession, there could have been concerns that there is no more room for another yoga studio.

But as Lululemon Athletica shares hit a record high on Tuesday, it seems to be business as usual for Vancouver yogis.
