A three-year-old child has died in a Prince George, B.C. hospital after being struck by a vehicle, RCMP say.

Police and paramedics responded to a call that the child had been seriously hurt by a vehicle in a neighbourhood near Massey at Ospika boulevards at around 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

The toddler was rushed to the University Hospital of Northern B.C. but later died from injuries.

The identity of the child, including gender, has not been confirmed.

An RCMP and BC Coroners Service investigation is ongoing.
