Second-degree murder charges have been laid against two teenagers in the stabbing death of 19-year-old Luka Gordic in May.

Arvin Golic, 18, and three underage male suspects who can't be named were originally charged with manslaughter.

On Thursday, Golic and one of the underage men had their charges upgrade to second-degree murder. IHIT confirmed the two accused turned themselves in to face their new charges, and will be released with conditions.

The two other youths are still charged with manslaughter.

Gordic was killed during an altercation in an alley near a nightclub on Main Street in Whistler Village between two groups spending the May long weekend in the resort city.

Friends say Gordic may have been sticking up for friends on Sunday night when he was fatally injured. Investigators have said the suspects all know each other from the Vancouver area.
