The CBC announced Tuesday it was pulling the TV series 'Steven and Chris' from its schedule after the sudden death of co-host Chris Hyndman.

The cause of the 49-year-old's death has not been released, Toronto police told CBC his body was found without vital signs in an alleyway Monday night. A spokesperson said there was no ongoing criminal investigation.

The public broadcaster reported that its staff were informed in an internal memo: "It is with profound sadness that we share the news Christopher Hyndman died early this morning."

Hyndman made his television debut alongside his longtime partner Steven Sabados in 2001 with 'Designer Guys.' Since then they've hosted a string of popular Canadian television shows before launching ‘Steven and Chris’ seven years ago.

Their shows now air in 80 countries, according to the CBC.

Sympathies from famous colleagues and friends rolled in following news of the personality's death, including from Scottish decorators Colin McAllister and Justin Ryan.

"We are so saddened to hear of the passing of Chris Hyndman," the duo said in a Facebook post.

"Our deepest sympathies to Steven at this heart breaking time. And our condolences to Chris and Steven's families and friends."
