A one-car accident on the Georgia Viaduct caused significant traffic delays Saturday evening and left nearly 2,000 homes without power.

According to the Vancouver police, an eastbound car lost control, rolled over into a hydro pole and caused extensive damage to the power lines just before 5 p.m.

Emergency crews were on scene attending to the driver who was the only person in the car. Crews had to wait until the power was shut off to pull the man from his car.

The investigation is ongoing and the victim’s injuries are unknown.

Power was restored to most customers by 10 p.m.
