The heat is being turned up on the B.C. government as the reality of its latest budget cuts begin to trickle down to the public.
Premier Gordon Campbell admits his popularity isn't exactly soaring right now, but he says the funding cuts are the right decision for the province to help the economy out perform other provinces down the road.
Some school boards are considering lawsuits after the government cut maintenance budgets, funding has been scaled back for parent advisory councils, and school sports funding has also been chopped -- by a government that once wanted to lead the way in healthy living.
Campbell says he knows these cuts aren't easy for groups but adds it's also not easy for the government to find savings.
The premier points out the government is adding hundreds of millions of dollars to the health care budget and more than $80 million to education.
The government's revised budget released last week included a $2.8-billion deficit and funding cuts to most ministries and many government programs.
