For the fifth time in as many days, a bomb threat has been called in on a WestJet flight.

The latest threat targeted flight 1709 from Las Vegas to Victoria on Thursday afternoon, according to a spokesman from Victoria International Airport.

James Bogusz said the plane landed safely and all passengers were taken to customs, where they’ll be held until the situation is resolved.

Like the four that preceded it, the threat isn’t believed to be credible, but Mounties have been called to the site and are screening the aircraft with a K9 unit.

Just one day earlier, on Canada Day, an apparent bogus bomb threat forced a Toronto-bound WestJet flight from Vancouver to divert to Calgary.

A WestJet plane in Saskatoon was delayed by another threat on Tuesday, and another was forced to stop over in Winnipeg en route from Edmonton to Toronto on Monday.

On Saturday, another WestJet flight out of Edmonton was forced to land in Saskatoon.

It’s unclear why WestJet has received so many recent threats, but it’s not the only airline to be targeted.

Last week, St. John’s International Airport was temporarily closed down after a threatening note was found in the washroom of an Air Canada plane.
