Police are investigating another bomb scare at a transit station just days after an explosive was found on SkyTrain tracks.

The New Westminster SkyTrain station was shut down for hours Monday night after someone found a piece of pipe covered in tape and white powder.

The RCMP Explosives Disposal Unit was called in to detonate the item, but officials determined it wasn’t explosive.

The station reopened at around midnight.

Authorities have ramped up security since a bomb was found Friday on SkyTrain tracks in Surrey and are asking commuters to be extra alert when using transit.
