Montreal police say DNA tests have confirmed that the hand and foot sent to two Vancouver schools last week belonged to murder victim Jun Lin.

The parcels arrived at False Creek Elementary and St. George's School on June 4, and police quickly drew connections to the delivery of Lin's body parts to the federal Conservative and Liberal parties.

Adult film actor Luka Rocco Magnotta is accused of killing and dismembering the 33-year-old Concordia University student, as well as filming the horrific act and posting it online. Magnotta was arrested last week in Germany and remains behind bars while he awaits extradition to Canada.

Police in Montreal say they do not know why Lin's hand and foot were sent to the Vancouver schools. Lin's torso was found in a suitcase outside Magnotta's Montreal apartment and the two political parties also received a hand and foot, but his head is still missing.

All four deliveries contained notes, though police have not revealed the contents of the messages.

Lin's family arrived in Canada last week to meet with police and prepare for his funeral. In a letter provided exclusively to CTV News, the family called for the swift extradition of Magnotta "bringing justice and fairness to heal the wounds brought about to our family, the Chinese community and society as a whole."

Lin, a computer engineering student, was described an "exceptional student" by school officials, the letter said.
