A car had to be pulled out of the front of a home in Mission Tuesday morning after a bizarre crash left the Mazda lodged in the wall.

The blue CX-5 slammed into the home at the corner of Hurd Street and 14 Avenue at approximately 8 a.m., police said.

RCMP said the driver had been making a left turn when he struck a van from behind. The car's airbag deployed, and he lost control of the vehicle, crashing into a home on the corner.

The driver suffered minor injuries, but has since been released from hospital. No one else was injured, and the house was vacant at the time as it had recently been sold.

"This could have been a very dangerous situation if the house was occupied, or if someone had been walking in the area," RCMP Staff Sgt. Rob Dixon told CTV.

"Fortunately, that was not the case."

Police are investigating the crash for mechanical problems and driver error, but no charges have been laid.
