TORONTO -- Toronto police say a badly decomposed torso was inside a suitcase found floating in Lake Ontario this morning.

Police say two boaters spotted the suitcase about 2.5 kilometres from shore near Bluffers Park, in the city's east-end.

Toronto police Det. Les Dunkley says a preliminary investigation has determined the remains are human and an autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday.

Police did not say whether the grisly discovery is connected to the dismemberment murder of Guang Hua Liu.

Parts of the Toronto woman's body -- but not her torso -- were found in mid-August scattered west of Toronto and near her home in the city.

Liu's former boyfriend, Chun Qi Jiang (JUNE KEE JHANG), 40, was arrested Aug. 26 and charged with second-degree murder in what police say was a domestic-related homicide.
