A B.C. woman who once aspired to be a Playboy model is now behind bars in the U.S. for allegedly attempting to smuggle $2-million worth of ecstasy, according to court documents.

Krista Boseley, 30, a former real estate agent in White Rock, was arrested at John Wayne Airport in Orange County, Calif. alongside another B.C. native, 61-year-old Gilles LaPointe.

U.S. officials say the pair landed in a private plane that had flown in from Las Vegas.

“The plane was identified by the tail number,” said Lt. Jeff Hallock of the Orange County Sheriff Department. “The tail number had been associated with some recent narcotics and money trafficking.”

Narcotics investigators intercepted the B.C. residents, and according to a court affadavit posted on the website The Smoking Gun, “at that point they conducted a search of some bags that were on the plane that were being put into another vehicle, and that’s when they located the ecstasy and the powdered MDMA.”

With the help of a drug-sniffing dog, officers allege they found nearly 100,000 pills of MDMA, a purer form of the party drug ecstasy, and about 35 to 50 kilograms of the powdered form of MDMA.

“The street value is probably about $2 million,” said Hallock.

Investigators allegedly found large sums of cash on each individual, with each suspect claiming they won the money at a Las Vegas casino.

Police say they also found a GPS tracker detector onboard the plane, which are often “used by drug smugglers to determine whether law enforcement has placed a tracking device on their vehicles or planes,” according to the affidavit.

Both Boseley and LaPointe are now facing charges of conspiracy to distribute a Schedule 1 controlled substance as they remain in custody in a California jail.

According to Playboy’s website, Boseley attended an open casting call in Vancouver for the adult magazine in 2004.

A profile appearing to belong to Boseley also appeared on the website ModelMayhem.com, but has since been removed from the site.
