Victoria officers are the latest to be involved in a police-related shooting in B.C., but no one was hurt in the Wednesday night incident.

The Victoria Police Department says officers responded to reports of a domestic assault at an apartment building in Esquimalt, northwest of Victoria.

They didn't find a victim but a man in his 50's, who had barricaded himself inside a suite, suddenly emerged carrying a large kitchen knife.

One officer fired a single shot at the suspect but missed.

The man then jumped from a second floor balcony and tried to flee but was rounded up by a police dog and brought down by a single jolt from a Taser.

Vancouver police have been involved in two recent shootings, one of them fatal, and investigations are underway in all three incidents.
