The Rollie

The Rollie promises to make perfect eggs without the grease and mess. But does the vertical grilling machine really work?

Steele on Your Side put the device to the test in its latest “As Seen on TV” product testing segment.

To start the testing, the Rollie cooking chamber is sprayed with non-stick oil. Then a couple of eggs are cracked inside. While the eggs are cooking, you stick a wooden skewer in the chamber and let the Rollie do its thing.

Six to eight minutes later you have a fried egg on a stick.

That's not all the Rollie can do. Add a hotdog, and you've got yourself a Rollie egg dog on a stick. Pour in a little batter and you’ve got a pancake on a stick.

At $30 before shipping and handling, Steele on Your Side gives the Rollie 3.5 stars out of five.

The Veggetti

The Veggetti is a hand-cranked gizmo that promises to turn veggies into delicious spaghetti in seconds. It claims the guilt-free zucchini pasta it makes has just 60 calories, much less than the 800 calories it says is found in ordinary pasta.

Consumer reporter Lynda Steele tested the device by shredding a zucchini in it. Within seconds, she did have a plate full of fettuccini-like vegetable strips and she says it was easy to use.

Then Steele nuked the zuke, poured a little premium pasta sauce on it, closed her eyes and gave it a try.

“It actually tastes pretty good,” she said.

The device claims to work with other vegetables too, including carrots, cucumbers, squash and potatoes.

At $19.99 before shipping, Steele on Your Side gives the Veggetti five out of five stars.
