Police are searching for a suspect in a fatal Port Coquitlam assault, who they say is considered "armed and dangerous."

James Ivan Meanny, 34, is wanted in connection with a stabbing at the Shaughnessy Square Shopping Centre on Sunday, Aug. 7.

Police were called to the scene that afternoon following reports of an assault. When they arrived, they found 55-year-old Robert Harold Vidovich suffering from serious injuries.

Vidovich was pronounced dead in hospital less than an hour later.

It is not known whether the suspect and victim knew each other, nor is it known whether the attack was random. Meanny has been charged

On Tuesday, police issued photos of the suspect wanted in the investigation, hoping a member of the public will have more information on his whereabouts.

Meanny is described as 5-9 and 150 lbs., with visible tattoos on his left forearm and left hand. He has been charged with second-degree murder.

Anyone with information on Meanny's location is asked to call 911 immediately, or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS). The public is asked not to approach him, as he may be "armed and dangerous."
