He joined CTV Vancouver in March 2008 as sports producer.
Kelcey is entering his third year as the weekend sports anchor. From 2008-2011, Kelcey worked as a sports producer for CTV News weeknights at six. Since 2011, Kelcey has been a regular contributor to CTV News Channel, appearing most Saturdays, delivering his weekly ‘take’ on the world’s biggest sports stories.
In addition to his work with CTV, Kelcey can often be seen at Canucks, Lions and Whitecaps home practices and games working for TSN’s SportsCentre. Also, he can occasionally be heard on the TEAM 1040 as a guest host.
Kelcey’s career highlight so far was covering the Vancouver Canucks 2011 Stanley Cup run. A close second was working as the main sports producer for CTV’s local coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympics in Vancouver and Whistler.
Another memorable moment for Kelcey came in the summer of 2013 when he challenged local sports stars from the Canucks, Lions, Whitecaps and Canadians at their jobs in a month-long series called “Kelcey versus the Pros”.
Kelcey is a graduate of BCIT’s Broadcast Journalism program. He began his mainstream broadcasting career as a radio news anchor with Newcap Radio (CFXW-FM) in Whitecourt, Alberta, before returning to Vancouver in the spring of 2008 to work with CTV Vancouver.
Before attending BCIT, he earned a Communications Degree from Trinity Western University in Langley. While at TWU he founded, what is now called SpartansTV, the host web broadcast network to TWU Athletics.
In his spare time, Kelcey enjoys playing beer-league hockey, football and soccer and hanging out with his wife, Sarah, and their three children (Milo, Rooney and Finley).
