February 2021: Charles Wright is no longer with CTV News Vancouver.

Senior Director Charles Wright has lived and worked in Australia, Switzerland and England, but he's called Vancouver home for most of his life.

Charles got an early start to his television career: at age 17 he was one of Canada's youngest live TV directors.

His early credits include CKVU's Vancouver Show, CBC's Driver's Seat, and numerous commercials and corporate videos.

In the early 1990s Charles was recruited by Telus to run that company's in-house video production unit.

During his tenure there Charles won a number of national and international awards, including Best Employee Communication Video at the prestigious International Television Association Awards in London, England.

Charles was part of the start-up team when CTV News Vancouver signed on (as VTV) in 1997.

Originally brought aboard to produce and direct Vancouver Breakfast, Charles soon moved to the news department where he continues to direct CTV News at Six.

Charles lives in downtown Vancouver with his teenaged son.
