1. Guilty verdict: A British Columbia couple has been found guilty by a jury of plotting to set off handmade pressure-cooker bombs at the legislature in 2013. However, the conviction won’t be entered until next week after the defence gets a chance to argue that police entrapped the couple.

2. Hit with suspension: Former RCMP spokesman Insp. Tim Shields has been suspended with pay. Mounties say Shields was suspended May 19pending the outcome of a Code of Conduct investigation. Shields is also currently facing two lawsuits from civilian RCMP employees.

3. Nasty surprise: A Victoria woman got a bit of a shock when she went to eat a banana on the weekend. Peeling off the sticker, she discovered a living scorpion stuck underneath.

4. Learning about sportsmanship: B.C. Hockey has had enough with aggressive parents. As part of the new Sportsmanship Starts in the Stands program, parental attendance will be mandatory. The push is being led by Canucks team president Trevor Linden who will appear in a video that will play at the meetings.

5. On the hunt: Conservation officers are hunting for a cougar believed to have torn apart a cow over the weekend. They have set up traps but haven’t yet caught it.
