1. A man has been arrested after a woman was tied up and sexually assaulted in Vancouver’s Strathcona neighbourhood. A passerby heard screams coming from a home and confronted the man with additional witnesses holding the man until police arrived.

2. The truth is out there and according to a local actor, it’s coming back. William B. Davis, who played the iconic villain ‘The Smoking Man’ in The X-Files, the series will be returning to the locale of its first success: Vancouver. The show filmed the first five seasons of its nine-season run in the city.

3. It wasn’t pretty. On the back of a three game win streak, the Canucks fell flat to a 4-1 loss against the Colorado Avalanche. The loss came on the anniversary of the last time a Vancouver team won the Stanley Cup.

4. Police have searched the homes of Germanwings co-pilot Andreas Lubitz as they looked for an explanation of why he may have crashed a passenger place into the French Alps. Prosecutors say Lubitz appears to have hidden evidence of an illness from his employers, including having been excused by a doctor from work the day he crashed a passenger plane into a mountain.

5. A push is on to give bylaw officers across B.C. new powers to protect pets in distress. The NDP is introducing a bill that would give the officers the power to smash car windows to save overheated pets and ticket their owners.
