2017 Inspiration Gala

November 4
Fairmont Hotel Vancouver

The BC Cancer Foundation’s 2017 Inspiration Gala is raising funds for the Hereditary Cancer Program at the BC Cancer Agency on Saturday, November 4th at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. This elegant evening for 500 guests includes a cocktail reception, gourmet dinner, entertainment, raffle, live auction, and silent auction.

The 2017 Inspiration Gala will help to save lives and prevent cancer in families for generations to come.

Identifying hereditary cancer risk empowers individuals and families to stop cancer before it starts, with swift and effective prevention strategies. Previously thought to account for only a few of cancer diagnoses, BC Cancer researchers have recently proven that hereditary cancers actually account for 10% of all cancer diagnoses and span not just a few, but all cancer types.

Implementing a provincial hereditary screening program for all patients with advanced cancer at the time of diagnosis will save lives. Making this the standard of care for all cancer patients in B.C. will bring hope to families across generations and dramatically increase chances for survival. Now is the time to take a big leap forward to treat and prevent hereditary cancers by harnessing precision oncology for families.

Over the past twelve years, Inspiration Galas have raised over $25 million for breakthrough lung, pancreatic, brain, ovarian, breast, lymphoid, immunotherapy and colorectal cancer research, as well as the Personalized Medicine Project and Personalized Onco-Genomics Program (POG) at the BC Cancer Agency. Through the Inspiration Gala, BC Cancer Foundation donors make contributions to leading-edge research that has a direct impact in improving cancer care for patients in B.C. The 2012 Inspiration Gala won “Best Fundraising Event” in Canada at the Canadian Event Industry Awards. The BC Cancer Foundation is the largest charitable funder of cancer research in this province.
