Mounties have laid charges against a seventh suspect accused of committing a grisly sex assault on a minor in Prince George last week.

On Saturday, RCMP arrested the 14-year-old male suspect, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

He faces counts of aggravated sexual assault, aggravated assault and unlawful confinement.

Police do not believe the suspect was involved in the alleged assault of another male youth that took place at the same time.

Mounties announced Friday that six people have already been charged in the alleged sexual assault of the boy, and the assault of the second boy,.

Hayden Lee Alwood, 18, Mercedes Rae Jewett, 20, two 17-year-old boys, a 15-year-old boy, and one 15-year-old girl have been charged in the attacks.

Each has been charged with aggravated sexual assault, aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm and two counts of unlawful confinement.

Officers received an anonymous tip last Monday directing them to a local apartment building, where they found one of the victims lying unconscious in a snow bank.

He was taken to the University Hospital of Northern B.C. for treatment, where he remained Monday.

Mounties believe the boy, whose age has not been released, was lured to the apartment before being beaten and sexually assaulted by the group.

The second boy is believed to have been lured to the same apartment, but suffered a less-severe attack.

The seventh suspect will appear in provincial court Monday, while the other six will remain in custody until their Wednesday court appearance.
